January 19, 2011 Great Lakes Ballast Water Collaborative Meeting in Toronto, Ontario

On January 19, 2011, the U.S. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation and the International Joint Commission co-hosted the fourth full-scale meeting of the Great Lakes Ballast Water Collaborative (BWC) in Toronto, Ontario.  More than 70 senior representatives and subject-matter experts from multiple U.S. and Canadian stakeholder groups attended the event.  The goals of this Collaborative meeting were for participants to gain a better understanding of the ballast water treatment system (BWTS) testing process and technology-verification procedures by discussing uncertainty, and continue discussions about BWTS technology, research, and policies.
