Tie-up
To accommodate vessel operators who have elected not to install or use landing booms, the Seaway entities initiated tie-up services in 1995 on a cost recovery basis. The fee for the service is $750 Canadian for each round trip through the Montreal-Lake Ontario section and $750 for each round trip through the Welland Canal.
The service is mandatory for vessels electing not to fit landing booms. This service must be requested 24 hours prior to the start of the vessel’s Seaway transit.
Application for this service can be made during the Pre-Clearance application process or during the initial Enhanced Seaway Ship Inspection that is carried out in Montreal and prior to each subsequent upbound Seaway transit.
